A huge live performance of a stunning new flamenco album is coming to The Capstone Theatre in Liverpool on Friday, 3 November 2023. Featuring a dancer, singer, guitarist and 2 percussionists, the unique event will showcase Moradas — the breathtaking new 9 track flamenco album from flamenco guitarist and composer Carlos Van Tongeren.

Promising to be a night of flamenco like no other, the Liverpool audience will be treated to a 1-off opportunity to experience the much anticipated new masterpiece live for the 1st time. 4 years in the making, Moradas takes the listener across a range of emotions and atmospheres, inspired by modern flamenco but also by jazz, ambient, and other styles.

The evening will feature a group of exceptional musicians from Spain, including the acclaimed cantaor (flamenco singer) Cristo Heredia from Almeria and the dancer Sara Carnero who is the niece of the legendary flamenco dancer ‘La Lupi’. Coupled with Carlos Van Tongeren himself on guitar and 2 supremely talented percussionists from Malaga, it’s set to be a very special evening indeed.

The live performance of Moradas comes after yet another incredible night of flamenco in Liverpool from Espiritu Flamenco — who have been bringing the very best Andalucian and Spanish flamenco to the North West for over 10 years. The recent Cristina Aguilera event at The Capstone Theatre was yet another roaring success for Espiritu Flamenco.

Espiritu’s Sarah Chambers said:- “I’m particularly excited for this 1 as it will be the 1st time this very special album will be performed in the UK. It’s a mesmerising work of art that has been carefully curated over 4 years and it’s an honour to present it with Carlos and this extraordinary group of musicians.”

The showcase will see the largest number of flamenco artists on stage at 1 time for an Espiritu Flamenco event — with most events featuring a dancer, singer and a guitarist. The added percussionists on the night will provide additional elements to the performance — resulting in a more amplified and multi-sensory experience.
