PEOPLE living, working or studying in Liverpool are being invited to share their views on a new Anti-Racism Strategy for the City.

The survey – which is also open to visitors - is a key part of the Council’s ongoing commitment to becoming a more inclusive organisation by listening and understanding the experiences of local communities, and working together to tackle inequalities.

A draft strategy is being developed in partnership with organisations across Liverpool, including Merseyside Police, fire service, health and education sectors.

Together, the aim is to build a shared approach that supports public, private and voluntary sectors to address structural inequality and ensure that everyone in Liverpool feels respected, valued and heard.

Cllr Liam Robinson, Leader of Liverpool City Council, said:- “Liverpool is a diverse City, and that’s something we’re proud of. But we also know that racism is still a reality across our City. It is vital that we as a Council always strive to be more inclusive and empower our residents. Our anti racism strategy will embody our commitment to becoming an anti-racist organisation and building a fairer, more inclusive City for everyone, but that is only possible if we listen to your views.”

Cllr Ruth Bennett, Deputy Leader of Liverpool City Council, said:- “This consultation is a chance for people to share their experiences and ideas, so we can create a strategy that truly reflects the needs of our communities. We want this plan to lead to real change, driven by the people who understand the issues best. I encourage everyone connected to Liverpool to take part and help shape a fairer, more inclusive future for our City.“

Responses to the survey will be reviewed by the Council and its partners and used to inform the development of an Anti-Racism Strategy, which will be presented to Cabinet in the autumn. A summary of the findings will be published alongside the strategy.

All responses will be anonymised and securely stored for no longer than 12 months.
