CRAIG Yeulett will compete in 16 back-to-back games, each lasting 90 minutes, in the epic marathon at Ignite Padel Cheshire Oaks.
The 34-year-old from Prenton will begin his extraordinary feat at:- 1pm on:- Saturday, 14 November 2026, powering through until the same time on:- Sunday, 15 November 2026.
And every penny raised will go to The Honeysuckle Bereavement Team, providing compassionate care at Liverpool Women’s Hospital for anyone experiencing pregnancy loss, still birth or neonatal death, supporting them at the time of their loss and afterwards.
Craig’s son Oscar was stillborn in April 2023.
He says:- “Me and my wife Ashley were told that the baby was poorly at 30 weeks and Oscar was then delivered at 33 weeks. Those 3 weeks were the worst 3 weeks of our lives and, when he was stillborn, it feels like your world’s ended. But that was where The Honeysuckle Bereavement Team came in, making sure we spent time with Oscar in the hospital and supporting us ever since.”
Money raised will help the Honeysuckle Team provide additional support, comfort and opportunities for families following the loss of a baby. This includes peer support sessions, the annual remembrance service, enhancing bereavement rooms to create more homely and comfortable spaces, and supporting the training and expenses of bereavement volunteers.
Funds will also contribute towards Honeysuckle FC, which Craig attends each week, giving bereaved dads a safe and supportive space to come together, talk and play football.
Looking to the future, there’s also an ambition to develop Honeysuckle House, providing bereaved families with a dedicated space away from the main hospital environment.
Craig, who’s gone on to have rainbow baby Louie, now 2, adds:- “I’m doing this so that other parents who sadly go on the journey we did can have the same amazing support that we did, and so that more people know about the unbelievable help that’s provided. We wouldn’t have coped without it.”
Craig, who raised more than £12,000 for The Honeysuckle Bereavement Service with a 3 Peaks Challenge in 2024, is hoping to raise as much as possible with the 24-Hour Padel Challenge, inviting other players to compete against him.
Ignite Padel, which has donated the court, has also opened a second one between midnight and 8am so anyone else wanting to play and donate to the cause can do so.
Chris Watson and Stephen Broad, partners at Ignite Padel and long-time friends of Craig, added:- “We’ve known Craig since our school days, so when he approached us about this 24-hour padel challenge, we jumped at the chance to support such an incredible cause. The whole team will be getting stuck in over the weekend to back our good friend every step of the way.”
Craig said:- “I just want as many people as possible to support such an incredible cause. The closer it gets to the challenge, the harder I realise it’s going to be. But it’s just 24 hours of physical effort. Suffering the loss of a baby is an emotional challenge that lasts forever. I’m doing this in memory of Oscar and that’s what will get me through.”
