A new exhibition programme has been developed through a creative partnership between Fai McCabe Art and Quirky Quarter, 1 of Liverpool’s most unique visitor attractions.
Throughout the year, a series of themed exhibitions will invite local artists to submit their work for consideration. Each showcase will feature a curated selection of eight to ten artists, providing a completely free opportunity for creatives to exhibit their work, reach new audiences, and become part of Liverpool’s growing artistic community.
Located in the heart of Liverpool’s Chinatown district, Quirky Quarter welcomes visitors from across the UK and around the world, offering an immersive experience centred around creativity, curiosity, and imagination. Alongside its visitor experience, the venue also hosts private and corporate events, creating further opportunities for artwork to be discovered by a wide range of audiences.
Fai McCabe’s relationship with Quirky Quarter began through the opportunity to exhibit her own artwork within the venue. Her piece “Twist and Shout” was displayed as part of her solo exhibition “Think Again” at Quirky Quarter last year and has later became part of the venue’s permanent visitor attraction.
The artwork, created from 1,000 hand-twisted Rubik’s Cubes, depicts the iconic Beatles and attracted significant attention during the exhibition, highlighting the potential for creative work made by local artists to engage visitors in unexpected ways.
Working closely with the Quirky Quarter team, Fai has developed this new exhibition programme to extend the same opportunity to other artists, creating a platform where both emerging and established creatives can showcase their work in a vibrant public setting, with no exhibition fees or commission on sales.
Fai McCabe said:- “Gallery spaces can be incredibly difficult to access, especially when you are exhibiting for the 1st time. That 1st opportunity to see your work professionally displayed and share it with an audience can give artists a lasting confidence boost.”
She continued:- “I wanted to create a non-traditional gallery environment where more artists can experience that moment and connect with new audiences in a unique public setting. Through this collaboration with Quirky Quarter over the next year I hope we can elevate, celebrate, and shine a spotlight on the incredible creative talent within Liverpool.”
The space aims to form part of Quirky Quarter’s wider visitor experience, welcoming a diverse audience of locals, tourists, and creative communities. The versatile space also hosts private and corporate events, creating additional opportunities for artwork to be viewed by potential collectors and new audiences.
By bringing exhibitions into a high-footfall public space, the programme aims to make art more accessible while providing artists with valuable opportunities to showcase their work beyond traditional gallery settings.
