VIBE UK has brought warmth and meaningful connection to Knowsley this week with 2 special Intergenerational Community Events delivered in partnership with McDonald’s Huyton restaurant.
Designed to bring young people and local residents together to connect, share experiences, and build meaningful relationships across generations, the 1st event took place on:- Tuesday, 18 March 2026 at Paisley Court Care Home.
Young people from the Knowsley Young Carers Me Time group led a variety of activities for residents including bingo, arts and crafts, and a special dance performance. Food for the event was provided by McDonald’s, helping to create a welcoming environment where everyone can relax and enjoy time together.
A 2nd event taking place on:- Friday, 20 March 2026 will bring students from Alt Bridge School together with residents from the Huyton community for a “skill swap” hosted at McDonald's Huyton restaurant. The session will encourage participants of all ages to share skills, hobbies and stories with 1 another. Activities will include knot tying, card games, and a show-and-tell where participants can share items or experiences that are meaningful to them.
Through these events, Vibe UK and McDonald’s hope to create positive, memorable moments for both young people and community members while demonstrating the value of collaboration, community spirit, and shared learning.
Vibe UK has been working across multiple McDonald’s restaurants in the area for several years, as part of McDonalds’ wider youth work initiatives, helping provide essential support to young people and connect them with vital Youth Services.
Helen McGorrin, Area Manager at Vibe UK, said:- “We know loneliness is challenge that doesn’t discriminate, regardless of age. By providing these intergenerational initiatives we can tackle social isolation, strengthen community connections, and give young people the opportunity to develop confidence and leadership through positive community engagement.”
Will Blundell, Strategic Projects Manager at McDonald’s Franchisee Blundell’s of Liverpool Ltd, supporting with food and venue at the McDonald’s Huyton restaurant, said:- “Bringing generations together in 2026 couldn’t be more important. Our Intergenerational Event is about creating moments of joy, belonging, and genuine connection between young people and older residents. We’re incredibly grateful to the local businesses who have stepped up to support this campaign - their generosity means we can offer a warm, welcoming space where people feel valued and part of something special. This is what community is all about, and we’re proud to help make that happen.”
