MERSEYSIDE Police are giving advanced warning to motorists of an abnormal load which will be moved through Merseyside on:- Sunday, 1 March 2026, from:- 8am.

Merseyside Police have said:- "Due to the load, which is a transformer unit, weighing more than 200 tonnes, it must follow a prescribed route and will be travelling at approximately:- 10mph throughout the journey that will pass though:- Sefton Council, Knowsley Council, Liverpool City Council, National Highways. The load is expected to take approximately 4 hours to move through the route."

The route will be as follows:-

Crosby Road South.
Derby Road.
Leeds Street.
New Islington.
Low Hill.
Edge Lane.
Broad Green Road.
Bowring Park Road.
Chelwood Ave.
Childwall Valley Road.
Naylors Road.
Wheathill Road.
Tarbock Road.
Cronton Road.
Tarbock Island.
A5300 to Speke.

Cheshire Police have confirmed the last part of the route with us that the last stretch will see the equipment going down the following route:-

M62 Eastbound.
A562.
Fiddlers Ferry.

Cheshire Police said:- "Assisting the transportation will be 6 Officers from the Constabulary's Motorcycle Unit upon handover from colleagues at Merseyside Police on the A5300."

(Added unconfirmed information) It has been reported to us that the movement restrictions will be ending near to the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) on:- Station Road, Fiddler’s Ferry, Warrington, WA52UL. We are trying to confirm this added information about its final destination from the A562 to Finders Ferry.)
