Firefighters overwhelmingly backed strike action
Results of the FBU strike action ballet, The FBU said:- "It is shocking to think both firefighters' and control staff were called:- ‘keyworkers’ during the Pandemic, but they now face another significant cut to their real wages. Many of our members are increasingly struggling to pay their mortgage or rent. Many are facing choosing between putting food on the table or switching on the heating. This situation must stop. The numbers speak for themselves. After more than a decade of falling pay, firefighters have voted by an overwhelming margin for strike action. We do not want to strike, but we now feel we are not being treated fairly. No more insulting pay offers, we want a real solution to this problem and fast."
