EUROVISION fever is conquering the Liverpool City Region, and now even the Merseyrail network map has had a fabulous makeover.

The rail company has produced a special edition of its iconic network map celebrating the Eurovision Song Contest by renaming its stations to suitably pun-tastic alterations.

So now passengers will be boarding at Brotherhood of Manor Road, changing at Ooh Ah – A Little Bit Moorfields, before heading up to Boom-Bang-A-Bank-Hall via Sand-y Shaw -Hills.

The special edition map is even free of charge and available from all 4 MtoGo stores (located at Liverpool Central, Hamilton Square, Liverpool South Parkway and Southport) as a souvenir of the big event and is sure to be a favourite hit with fans of Eurovision.

It follows a range of entertainment and fun that the train company has created, helping to contribute to the amazing party atmosphere throughout Liverpool since Eurovision started last weekend.

A special Eurovision stage has been installed at Liverpool Central which has seen live acts perform to passengers passing through the network’s busiest station, with Elton Wrong, Team Bee Gees and DJ Booth earlier in the week with the Over the Water Choir and Liverpool Rock Choir performing on Friday and Saturday.

And passengers have even had station and train announcements made by Eurovision presenters Julia Sanina, Rylan and Graham Norton.

Suzanne Grant, Commercial Director of Merseyrail, said:- “We’ve had a lot of fun creating our Eurovision network map. I’m sure passengers and Eurovision fanatics will enjoy the word play – and maybe even think up some that we have missed! The whole Eurovision week has been fantastic for the City region, and everyone at Merseyrail will be working hard to ensure everyone can travel safely and swiftly – especially on Saturday, the day of The Grand Final.

“All day Saturday Merseyrail trains will run to a 20-minute frequency on all parts of the network until the evening service when the usual 30-minute timetable will operate. This is with the exception of the Ellesmere Port line which will run to a 30-minute frequency throughout.

“Please remember that all Wirral line trains will start and terminate at Liverpool Central in the City centre, while Hunts Cross, Southport, Kirkby and Ormskirk line trains will start and terminate at Moorfields in the city centre. James Street and Lime Street low level stations will also be closed all day on Saturday.

“We’ll have late-night trains running into the early hours of Sunday morning too. So please check before you travel and give yourself plenty of time.”
