SOULSIDE Music Festival is returning to the City next month with an incredible line up of 70s’ Motown and Disco superstars.
Heatwave, famous for their ‘Boogie Nights’, are headlining the Summer Soiree event at BOXPARK Liverpool on:- Saturday, 12 July 2025.
And joining them in the Baltic Brewery Village with his smooth grooves and iconic hits like Rock Your Baby will be the legendary American soul singer George McCrae.
It’s the 2nd event staged by Soulside which last November saw almost 2,000 music fans fill BOXPARK for live performances from The Real Thing, Odyssey and former Drifter Ray Lewis.
Organisers say this year’s festival will be another unforgettable celebration of some of the best soul and disco artists, and sounds, around.
Powerhouse singer Angie Brown will be energising the crowd with her dynamic vocals and signature style, and festival highlights will include tributes to Tina Turner and Lionel Richie.
Local artists Billy Strand and Dance Inc will add to the excitement, along with Summer Soiree’s organiser and host, former X Factor favourite Gary Barker.
There’ll be sets from Liverpool DJs Charlie Cee and Paradisco’s Ant Chandler, and - new this year - BOXPARK’s Music Garden will be transformed into Soulside’s RnB Garden with a mix of old skool RnB, Hip Hop, Garage and more from a host of DJs … and some special guest performances.
Gary, who left judges speechless with his passionate renditions of songs like Sam Cooke’s A Change is Gonna Come and reached the 6-chair challenge stage of X Factor in 2017, says:- “I just love soul, disco and Motown music, I was brought up on it, and that’s what I want to bring to people with Soulside Music Festival’s Summer Soiree. It’s an 8 hour celebration of some amazing music and incredible artists, and there’s really nothing like it in Liverpool. I’m really excited because we’re bringing some of the most iconic soul names to the City, like Heatwave, so well known for Boogie Nights and songs like Always and Forever, and who have such infectious energy on the stage. The last time Heatwave played Liverpool it was at the M&S Bank Arena and to be able to see him playing in such an intimate venue is unbelievable.â€
He adds:- “This is going to be such a joyous and amazing event, with an incredible atmosphere, and the aim is for it to get bigger and bigger.â€
General tickets for the event start at £25.
