CUNARD will be hosting a massive celebration at Liverpool’s cruise terminal on:- Monday, 3 June 2024, with thousands of people expected to flock to the Pier Head as the new liner Queen Anne is set to be officially named.

Liverpool’s historic waterfront will be the stage for a host of entertainment throughout the day to mark the historic occasion, and it will surely be very busy around the area.

Merseyrail services will ensure people have a safe and quick journey to and from the event.

A normal timetable will be in operation throughout:- Monday, 3 June 2024. To ensure customers’ safety, James Street station will be closed from 18:30. Customers wishing to travel from:- Liverpool to Wirral, after:- 18:30 should use Moorfields station instead.

Customers should be aware that escalators to the Wirral platform at Moorfields are not in service. People who require escalators should take a train from:- Moorfields to Liverpool Central, via the Northern line, where they can use the escalator to the Wirral platform.

Suzanne Grant, Chief Commercial Officer and Deputy Managing Director of Merseyrail, said:- "The naming of this incredible new ship from Cunard is sure to be a fantastic occasion on the waterfront. We are anticipating that there will be many thousands of people who want to be part of this historic moment. It’s important that we put customer comfort and safety 1st, so we have put a special plan in place to ensure this. Trains traveling into Liverpool from Wirral after:- 18:30 will also not stop at:- James Street, so customers arriving after that time for the evening should alight at either:- Moorfields or Liverpool Central. Customers returning from the event on the waterfront should make their way to Moorfields Station or Liverpool Central. It will be a really special day for Liverpool’s waterfront, and Merseyrail is proud to be playing our part in helping everyone enjoy it."
