Dementia Action Week - Events in Sefton
NEXT week is Dementia Action Week, that runs from:- 13 May 2024 to 19 May 2024. This is 1 of Alzheimer’s Society’s flagship campaigns and this year they are focusing on encouraging anyone worried about their memory to visit their GP. With an early diagnosis, there may be drugs to slow the condition down and there is time to plan for the future and access vital support services.
Did you know that 1 in 3 people with dementia do not have a diagnosis? Dementia Friendly Sefton along with Alzheimer’s Society Sefton has organised 3 Dementia Information Hubs at the following venues:-
Dementia Advisers will be there to give information and support, along with colleagues from:- Sefton Council, Sefton Carers’ Centre and the Memory Clinic, enabling you to meet a range of professionals and get things sorted all in one place.
In addition, we will be running some free Dementia Friends sessions, each lasting about an hour, to provide basic dementia awareness and understanding of this condition. Sessions will take place at each venue between:- 11 am and 2 pm. The poster has all the details and links to book the Dementia Friends sessions. You should book for these in advance as places are limited and are likely to go very quickly. No need to book to attend the Dementia Hubs themselves, just come along to whichever venue is most convenient for you on the day.
