Don't forget Clocks go back 1 hour!
TONIGHT please remember the clocks go back 1 hour at 2 am, on 29 October 2023, in the UK. This means you have an extra hour in bed! In the United Kingdom, we often ask why we change from British Summer Time (BST) and the return to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). is a yearly tradition, but why?.As the days gradually become shorter following the Summer Solstice in June the nights have been getting darker, turning the clocks back an hour during Autumn, helps to provide people with more sunlight in the morning. Turning the clocks forward in the spring brings lighter evenings.
This swap over hasn't always proved popular and calls often cry out to scrap Daylight Savings Time altogether. Infact, back in 2019, the European Parliament voted in favour of scrapping it, but just as in the UK plans have been stalled, as the EU member states couldn't decide whether they wanted to remain in winter or summer time once the change took place. Infact that change was meant to have happened in 2021, but like the UK, EU member states are also still using this system. But, will scrapping this system even happen in the UK or even ion Europe. Would you want to scrap it? If you want to scrap it, whould you stick with British Summer Time (BST) or Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) in the UK? What are your thoughts?
