DfT statement on airport liquid restrictions
TRAVEL Advice - A Department for Transport spokesperson has just announced that:- "From:- 00:01 BST, on Sunday, 9 June 2024, 100ml restrictions on liquids will temporarily be reintroduced for passengers traveling from:- 6 regional airports, where Next Generation Security Checkpoints (NGSC) are in full operation. This temporary move is to enable further improvements to be made to the new checkpoint systems and will only affect a small number of passengers. For most passengers, security measures will remain unchanged. Passengers should continue to check security requirements with their departure airport before traveling."
We are told that this security measure is only affecting passengers traveling from:- Newcastle, Leeds / Bradford, London City, Aberdeen, Southend, and Teesside airports, which represent around 6% of UK air passengers. Other airports had made no change to the longstanding rules on carrying liquids. We are also told that this is a routine measure and not in response to a specific threat! If traveling out of Liverpool Airport you can find out what airport security checks are in place and that you can carry on the Airport's Advice Page. This latest update doesn't affect travelers leaving via Liverpool Airport, COMMENTS (0)
