A Launch and Networking that will connect and communicate with all involved in Southport’s music scene ensuring an inclusive music environment, providing advice and information. 

The launch and networking event, sponsored by KGV 6th Form College will be on:- Wednesday evening, 14 October 2026 at The Warehouse Arts Centre and will be open to all (with a free ticket). 

There will be performances from professional musicians originally from Southport, who will share their music industry journey, industry professionals such as the Liverpool music publishers Sentric, The Musicians’ Union, MusicFutures, colleges, universities, recording studios and more.

There will be opportunities for networking, whether you are a musician, aspiring musician, venue, promoter, recording studio or have a vested interest in the music scene in Southport. 

In January 2026, Southport MP Patrick Hurley invited music industry professionals to share their thoughts and ideas on building a stronger live music scene in Southport. 

From this initial ‘Roundtable’, Southport Music Board was formed including local and regional industry professionals. 

After conducting extensive local research and gaining information from artists, venues, council and education and industry organisations, their objectives and a shared vision is:- ‘To build on local foundations, resulting in more live music opportunities from ‘grass roots’ to touring bands, artistes and improved opportunities for young musicians.’ 

Southport Music Board resonates with:- “There is a strong, existing live music scene in Southport which we aim to connect by improving visibility and communication. We will encourage emerging and young musicians, those already working as musicians, sign post to advice on professional routes through in the industry and work to ensure live music is accessible, inclusive, viable and with vitality, accumulative. Musical careers are being supported with KGV Sixth Form College now offering a UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Music, a 2 year course for example, something that Southport hasn’t had for some years.” 

Southport’s Music Board has initial plans to begin a mentoring and education programme, the website will support venues, musicians and professionals to connect and communicate with each other and the public. 

Venues and businesses will feature on the website and be able to update their own details and information.
