YOUNG people across Halton, Knowsley, St Helens and Warrington are being encouraged to access free online mental health and wellbeing support this summer through Mersey Care’s dedicated Support for Children and Young People webpage.

The site has been designed to make it easier for children, young people, parents, carers and professionals to access practical advice and support whenever they need it, but particularly during the school summer holidays.

Lisa Simpson, Mersey Care's Clinical Service Manager for Children and Young People's Mental Health Services, said:- "Looking after your mental health is just as important during the summer holidays as it is during term time, Whether a young person is looking for practical wellbeing tips, information about local services, support with managing anxiety, or resources for a specific issue, our dedicated webpage brings together a wide range of trusted support in 1 place. We want every young person across Halton, Knowsley, St Helens and Warrington to know that support is available and that they don't have to face challenges alone."

The dedicated webpage allows young people to explore:-

  • Digital interactive workbooks designed to support mental health and emotional wellbeing

  • Features including articles on body image, positive male role models, coping after distressing events and managing worries

  • Information about mental health services for children and young people

  • Dedicated support and resources for young people with anorexia

  • Advice and resources relating to self injury and self harm for young people and those supporting them

  • Support for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), with resources for families and carers

  • "While You Wait" resources to help young people and families access support and guidance.

Mersey Care works in partnership with organisations across the Region to improve the health and wellbeing of children, young people and their families, ensuring support is accessible when and where it is needed.

Young people, parents, carers and professionals are invited to explore the resources throughout the summer holidays and share them with anyone who may benefit.
