Sefton Local Elections Results
THE full local election for Sefton Metropolitan Borough Council was held on:- Thursday, May 2026, with all 66 seats contested. While predictions and partial data have appeared in various reports in the run up to the election, the definitive makeup of the Council has now changed.
Both Labour and Liberal Democrats have taken the biggest stakes, with Labour clinging on to be the biggest party within Sefton by a narrow margin with 35 seats. The Liberal Democrats have gaining new seats, doing far better than expected, as did the GreenParty. It's been a bad day for the Conservative who lost all 3 seats. But at Aintree Racecourse Reform failed to gallop ahead as they have accross the rest of the country, but have made they significant shock waves.
