A dedicated charity worker from Litherland has received a Citizen 4 Good Award for her tireless efforts in support of people who have experienced homelessness.
Margy Allen, who has given over a decade of support at homelessness charity Emmaus Merseyside, was honoured at the recent Citizens 4 Good Awards 2025. Emmaus Merseyside is an award-winning charity that provides a home, tailored support, training and work opportunities to help people rebuild their lives after homelessness.
Commenting on receiving the award, Margy said:- “Attending the event was very exciting. I enjoyed it and was overwhelmed with pride to be nominated by my colleague Katie. Her words made me very emotional, as I did not realise how valued I am as an Emmaus team member. I couldn’t do as much as I do without the residents, volunteers and staff here who make me feel welcomed and valued.”
This year’s Citizens 4 Good Awards, held at Southport Market, brought together community members to celebrate some of Sefton’s most inspiring unsung heroes. Organised by Sefton 4 Good and Sefton CVS, in partnership with the Mayor of Sefton’s Office, the evening shone a spotlight on the inspiring people who make Sefton such a special place to live.
Margy started at Emmaus as a volunteer and then secured employment, helping to oversee operations at the Emmaus Merseyside Charity Superstore in Seaforth. Margy’s leadership within the large Superstore helps to raise vital income to sustain the support provided to residents at the charity’s community home.
Marc Bamber, Chief Executive Officer at Emmaus Merseyside, said:- “Margy is the heart and soul of our Charity Superstore and someone who has given so much support to the growth of Emmaus Merseyside as a charity. She supports both our residents and volunteers in the day-to-day operations and the continued development of our social enterprise. I am very proud and grateful to Margy for all she has given to Emmaus, and as a team, we are really pleased that she has been recognised with this Citizens 4 Good Award.”
