Talks pause teacher strikes
UNIONS have put on hold strike action in England as it has been announced that the Government will enter into talks.
Within a joint statement issued by the Unions and the Department of Education says talks will focus on:- work conditions, teachers' pay, and workload reduction options. This is a move in the right direction, but many within the industry are warning that the divide is very big. The issues being raised mostly appear to stem from a combination of recruitment and retention issues. Specifically, there are not enough teaching candidates and many trained teachers leave the profession. An issue that has affected many other job sectors.
