The Southport pub reopened on 5 November, with an exciting new look

THE Old Duke is now open, boasting an investment of £335,000 that has transformed the community pub to feature a host of exciting upgrades.

The recent winner of the Great British Pub Awards 2025 is introducing its innovative:- "2 Door Pub" concept. The Old Duke Southport now offers a sports bar area and a separate family lounge, creating 2 distinct spaces: a lively bar for the locals and a cosy, family friendly lounge. Designed to cater to all occasions, The Old Duke Southport brings the community together, offering guests the flexibility to enjoy their ideal experience with no compromises.

The community heroes chosen to pull the 1st pint to mark the pub’s opening were Bebe’s Hive UK, a Community Interest Company established to support grieving children following the Southport tragedy. The group were chosen after receiving over 3,000 votes in the pub's Facebook group. To honour Bebe, 1 of the girls lost in the tragedy, the pub held an auction of old renovation bric-a-brac, raising £650 for the group, with additional fundraisers planned.

The newly updated bar area features large HD screens to keep guests entertained with all the latest sports action. The space also features a dedicated darts area and pool table, allowing guests to challenge friends, enjoy some friendly competition, and soak up the lively atmosphere.

The Old Duke is a dog friendly locals' pub with a community feel. Locals can now drop by for a pint and a bite to eat, celebrating unmissable moments in the heart of the community. The pub continues to serve its popular pub favourites such as Hunter's Chicken, a roasted chicken breast topped with melted Mozzarella and Cheddar cheese with crispy bacon, smothered in BBQ sauce, served with chips, half a grilled tomato, beer-battered onion rings and topped with pea shoots. 


Now open, the Old Duke Southport will host a variety of events, highlights include:-
  •     Rememberance Dinner With Gemma Clarke on:- 11 November 2025.
     
  •     Monday Meet and Munch With Ms Rachel on:- 17 November 2025.
     
  •     Ladies Night on:- 28 November 2025.
     
  •     St Andrew’s Day With John Emmanuel on:- 30 November 2025.
General Manager, Heather Porter-Brandwood, said:- “We’re so excited to be back open and show off the fantastic new look. We’ve worked hard to make The Old Duke a space for everyone; whether you're catching the game with friends, enjoying a family lunch, or just popping in for a pint. The new Sky Sports package, refreshed interiors, and outdoor seating make it a perfect spot year-round.”

With more than 1,300 pubs and bars across England, Scotland, and Wales, Marston’s locations range from traditional local and family friendly pubs to venues designed for a warm, timeless country pub atmosphere offering shared good times for everyone.
