Marc Noonan sentenced to life for sexual offences against girls
MERSEYSiDE Police Detectives from our Child Criminal and Sexual Exploitation Team (CCSET) are welcoming the sentencing of a Liverpool man to life in prison for multiple sexual offences against girls.
Marc Noonan, 27, of Fenwick Street, pleaded guilty to eleven sexual offences prior to appearing at trial on other matters. Noonan will serve a minimum of 18 years minus time spent on remand until there is any possibility of parole. In January, Noonan was found guilty of a further 29 sexual offences. The offences took place between:- 2022 and 2023, against three girls between the ages of:- 13 and 16. The investigation found that Noonan met and groomed the victims after approaching them via social media, going on to commit further offences, including rape, sexual assault and disclosing private images. Following the verdict, Detective Inspector Tony Meakins from CCSET said:- "I hope that the public are are reassured to see Noonan will serve a significant length of time in custody following this extensive investigation. He is a dangerous, manipulative and abusive sex offender who groomed and exploited vulnerable girls in a calculating and highly damaging way. Noonan used sexual images of victims in order to threaten, coerce and control them, ultimately leaving some victims fearful of coming forward to police. Although the effects of his crimes have been far-reaching, and hopefully this outcome has provided the victims with some sense of justice being served, and helps their continued recovery.I'd like to praise the bravery, strength and patience of the victims and their families throughout this process, especially in light of the fear and considerable distress caused by Noonan's attempts to threaten and control them. Today's outcome should hopefully give other victims of sexual offences the confidence to come forward and be assured that we will do all we can to put offenders before the courts, and to support victims through what can be a long and distressing process.
